Eik is the lone survivor of the Summoner race. She has been alone for most of her life after her parents died. After she meets Zidane, she clings to him and vows to the world that she will never be alone ever again.
Zidane meets Eiko in Madain Sari. This was the village of the summoners until they were wiped out years before she was born.
